Renting Vacation Homes In Boulder County Could Get Difficult

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. -- If you live in Boulder County and you plan to rent your home out for the Democratic National Convention, or any other reason, you might be out of luck.

A regulation there prohibits anyone from renting out cabins or single-family homes.

The land use code has been on the books since 1954, but the county just started enforcing it this year. .

It should be noted that the newly proposed regulations (not final regulations) apply only to houses in unincorporated, primarily rural and mountain, Boulder County. They also allow exactly for the kind of short-term rentals that would apply to the DNC or other event coming to this area. The TV news article quoted on this page got the story wrong, and the proliferation of this incorrect information is a discredit to this web site.
